During my year at the University of Cambridge, I was a member of the Chapel Choir of Pembroke College, Cambridge, singing bass 2 (Can) under the direction of Anna Lapwood. In Easter term 2019, I received college-supported voice lessons from vocal instructor Daniel Joy, in which I continued to improve my vocal technique for choral and solo singing.

As part of the choir, I performed in weekly compline services on Wednesdays and Evensong on Sundays. Outside of regular services, I also took part in several choir outreach events, including the following:

  • A performance with Pembroke alumnus Eric Idle at the Cambridge Corn Exchange
  • A five-day trip to Salisbury Cathedral, where we performed Evensong nightly
  • A carol service at the charity/social action centre Pembroke House in London

In addition, from June 27 through July 10, 2019, I took part in the Pembroke Choir's tour to Thailand, where I assisted in outreach workshops for community members and local students in Bangkok, Pattaya, and Noh Bo. I led small groups of students in vocal exercises, and also performed a blend of traditional choral pieces and jazz arrangements with the choir at venues including the British Embassy in Bangkok, the Ramayana Water Park in Pattaya, and the Pattaya Elephant Jungle Sanctuary.
